The modern story of DNA starts with the year 2003. The Human Genome Project (HGP) was completed and thereby the sequencing of the first human reference genome. The HGP was based on the Sanger sequencing method and it took around 13 years and an astronomical three billion USD to complete it. The story of our individual interest in DNA to investigate the probability of disease, ancestry, etc. is more recent. The following videos and frames are based on the DNA data from friends, family, strangers, and myself.
