The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) is a large-scale physics experiment and observatory designed to detect cosmic gravitational waves and to develop gravitational-wave observations as an astronomical tool.

The LIGO concept built upon early work by many scientists to test a component of Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity, the existence of gravitational waves.

Gravitational waves are ripples in space-time triggered by extremely violent cosmic events, such as mergers between neutron stars, black holes or a combination of the two. The phenomenon was first predicted by Einstein's theory of general relativity.

I downloaded data created by the collision of two neutron stars. These data took twenty million years to reach the earth as gravity waves. I am using these data to create this artwork.
